Realme expands budget lineup with C100x

Realme has added a new entry to its budget smartphone series in India. The Realme C100x, launched on Thursday, brings a massive 8000mAh battery and a 120Hz display at a starting price of ₹14,499.

The phone is aimed at users who prioritise battery life and smooth scrolling without spending a premium. It sits alongside the recently launched Narzo 100x 5G, which shares a similar battery but adds 5G connectivity and a 144Hz display.

Key specifications and features

The Realme C100x is powered by a MediaTek Helio G99 chipset, paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The storage can be expanded via a dedicated microSD card slot.

On the front, it sports a 6.6-inch IPS LCD panel with a 120Hz refresh rate. The display has a punch-hole cutout for the 16-megapixel selfie camera. At the back, the phone features a 50-megapixel primary sensor, a 2-megapixel macro lens, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor.

Battery and charging

The headline feature is the 8000mAh battery. Realme claims this can deliver up to two days of heavy usage on a single charge. The device supports 33W wired fast charging via a USB-C port. A full charge takes roughly two hours.

The phone runs Android 14 with Realme UI 5.0 on top. It also packs a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, dual stereo speakers, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Pricing and availability in India

The Realme C100x is priced at ₹14,499 for the single 6GB+128GB variant. It will be available in two colour options: Midnight Black and Ocean Blue.

Sales begin on July 20 via Realme's official website, Flipkart, and major offline retail stores. The company has tied up with ICICI Bank and HDFC Bank to offer instant discounts of ₹1,000 on card payments.

Realme is also bundling a free screen replacement within the first six months for early buyers. This offer is valid for purchases made before August 15.

Market positioning and competition

The C100x enters a crowded segment. It competes directly with the Redmi Note 13, which offers a 5000mAh battery and 67W charging at a similar price. The Moto G84 5G and the Infinix Note 40 also rival it with their own battery and display features.

Realme's focus on an 8000mAh battery gives the C100x a clear differentiator. However, the lack of 5G connectivity may push some buyers towards the Narzo 100x or competitors' offerings.

Analysts say the phone could appeal to users in smaller cities and towns where 4G coverage remains strong and battery life is a top buying criterion.

The phone goes on sale next week. How it performs against rivals with faster charging and 5G will be the key metric to watch in the coming months.
