Fresh renders of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra have surfaced online, giving us our clearest look yet at the flagship tablet's design. The images, shared by multiple tech outlets, show a device with extremely thin bezels and a prominent notch at the top of the display. This notch houses the front-facing camera system, a design choice that Samsung has continued from the previous generation.

The renders confirm that the Tab S12 Ultra will feature a large 14.6-inch Super AMOLED screen, likely with a 120Hz refresh rate. The tablet's rear panel appears to house a dual-camera setup, aligned vertically in the top-left corner. S Pen support is expected as standard, with a magnetic charging strip visible along the back edge.

Specs and Certification Trail

The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra has been spotted on India's BIS certification database, just days after the Tab S12+ received similar approval. This development suggests that Samsung is preparing to launch both models in the Indian market soon. The BIS listing does not reveal full specifications but confirms the model number and local compliance.

Under the hood, the Tab S12 Ultra is expected to pack Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, paired with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. Battery capacity is rumored to be around 11,200mAh, supporting 45W fast charging. The tablet will likely run Android 14 with Samsung's One UI 6 skin out of the box.

Camera Setup and Design Trade-offs

Contrary to earlier speculation, the Tab S12 Ultra will not feature an under-display selfie camera. SamMobile reports that Samsung has stuck with the notch design rather than adopting the hidden camera technology. The front-facing system is expected to include a 12MP main sensor and a 12MP ultra-wide lens, similar to the Tab S9 Ultra.

Some critics have questioned the need for a notch on such a large display. Gadget Hacks notes that while the notch enables a higher-quality selfie camera setup, it does take up screen real estate that could otherwise be used for content. Samsung appears to have decided that camera quality takes priority over an uninterrupted display on the Ultra model.

Industry watchers will be looking closely at pricing. The Tab S9 Ultra launched at around Rs 1,09,999 in India, and the S12 Ultra is expected to carry a similar premium price tag. Whether Samsung can justify the cost with meaningful upgrades over the previous generation remains to be seen.
