Diversions come into effect for elevated corridor work
The Hyderabad traffic police on Saturday announced a series of diversions in Saidabad to facilitate construction of an elevated corridor. The changes, effective immediately, will remain in place until further notice, officials said.
The project aims to ease congestion on a key arterial road, but commuters will face disruptions in the interim.
Key routes affected
Traffic movement will be restricted at the Saidabad crossroad, a busy junction connecting several residential colonies and commercial areas. Vehicles heading towards the crossroads from the Chandrayangutta side will not be allowed to proceed straight.
Instead, they must take a detour via the Saidabad-Masab Tank road. Similarly, traffic from the Malakpet side will be diverted onto the parallel service road near the construction zone.
Heavy vehicles have been completely banned from the stretch during peak hours. Local police have deployed additional personnel to manage the expected chaos.
Alternative routes suggested
Commuters traveling towards the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport are advised to use the PVNR Expressway as an alternative. Those heading to the old city can take the road via Dabeerpura.
The police have urged motorists to plan their journeys in advance and follow the signage. "We request citizens to cooperate and avoid the affected stretch unless necessary," a traffic official said.
Public transport buses on routes 33 and 37 have been rerouted, officials confirmed. Auto-rickshaws and cab drivers are also expected to take the detours.

The elevated corridor, once completed, is expected to reduce travel time between Saidabad and the city center by at least 20 minutes. However, the construction phase could stretch over the next several months.
