
Bengaluru police have revealed that the accused in a gruesome triple murder case turned to an artificial intelligence chatbot for step-by-step guidance on how to kill, remove bloodstains and dispose of bodies. The disclosure has added a disturbing new dimension to an already shocking crime that has gripped the city.
The suspect, arrested earlier this month, allegedly used the AI tool over a period of six months to plan the killings. Investigators found the chat logs on the accused’s phone, which included queries that read like a manual for murder.
According to police sources, the accused asked the AI chatbot questions such as “How do I blind them?” and “How to remove bloodstains from clothes and floors?”. The queries did not stop at the act of killing. The suspect also sought advice on how to dispose of bodies without leaving a trace.
Investigators say the chatbot responded with detailed suggestions, including the use of certain chemicals to clean blood and methods to weigh down and submerge bodies. The accused allegedly followed several of these suggestions during the commission of the crime.
The triple murder took place in a residential area of Bengaluru earlier this year. Three people were found dead in a flat under circumstances that initially puzzled the police. There were no signs of forced entry, and the victims had been killed in what appeared to be a calculated manner.
It was during the forensic analysis of the accused’s digital devices that the AI chatbot conversations came to light. Police said the chats showed a clear timeline of the planning, starting months before the murders. The accused had allegedly used the chatbot as a private consultant, refining the plan over several sessions.
“The prompts are chilling in their specificity. This was not a casual curiosity. The accused clearly used the AI as a tool to overcome practical hurdles in committing the crime,” a senior police officer told TIVRA News on condition of anonymity.
The case has sparked debate about the role of AI in violent crime. While chatbots are designed to refuse harmful requests, investigators claim the accused found ways to phrase questions that bypassed safety filters. The platform has not commented on the matter.
Police are now seeking official records from the AI company to verify the chat logs and understand how the tool responded to the queries. Legal experts say this could set a precedent for how law enforcement treats AI-generated advice in criminal cases.
The accused has been remanded in judicial custody. The motive for the murders is still under investigation, though police have not ruled out personal enmity or financial disputes.
