M1 opens pre-orders for Samsung's latest foldables

Singapore telecom operator M1 has started taking pre-orders for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 series and the Galaxy Z Flip8. The move comes shortly after Samsung unveiled the devices at a launch event in London.

The new lineup includes the Galaxy Z Fold8, the premium Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, and the clamshell-style Galaxy Z Flip8. Samsung is marketing this generation as "Foldables, Perfected for Every Way of Living."

What's new in the Fold8 series

The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra is the standout model this year. It features a wider main display when unfolded, addressing a common complaint from users of previous generations. The standard Fold8 also gets a similar treatment, offering more screen real estate.

Samsung has focused on improving hinge durability and reducing the crease visibility. The company claims the new Ultra variant is built for heavy multitasking and media consumption. The Flip8, meanwhile, keeps its compact form factor but gets a larger cover screen.

International pricing for the Galaxy Z Fold8 starts at around $1,899, while the Fold8 Ultra goes up to $2,199. The Flip8 is priced more competitively at $1,099. These are US prices before taxes and carrier subsidies.

Availability in Singapore

M1 has not yet disclosed local pricing or contract plans. Customers can register their interest on the M1 website, with deliveries expected in the coming weeks. Other Singapore carriers are also expected to open pre-orders soon.

The devices will compete with other high-end Android phones in the market, including offerings from Google and OnePlus. Samsung is betting on the foldable form factor to drive upgrades in mature markets like Singapore.

Other announcements from Samsung's London event

Alongside the phones, Samsung also unveiled the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 at the same event. The new smartwatch is aimed at fitness enthusiasts and features a titanium case and improved battery life.

The company did not announce any major price drops for the previous generation models. Analysts expect the new foldables to account for a significant share of Samsung's premium phone sales in the second half of 2026.

Singapore customers should watch for official pricing from M1 and other telcos. Shipments are likely to begin by early August, and early adopters may get trade-in bonuses or bundled accessories.
