University Visvesvaraya College of Engineering (UVCE) in Bengaluru has announced its highest-ever placement rate for the 2026 graduating batch. The college placed 97% of eligible students this year, surpassing its previous record of 94% set in 2024.
Recruiters and offers
Top technology firms such as Google, Microsoft, and Amazon were among the major recruiters. Several Bengaluru-based startups also participated, offering roles in software development, data science, and product management.
The college placements office confirmed that over 150 companies visited the campus. More than 800 students received job offers across various engineering disciplines.
Salary trends
The average salary package for the 2026 batch saw a 15% increase over the previous year. The highest domestic offer stood at Rs 45 lakh per annum, while international offers touched the equivalent of Rs 1.2 crore per annum.
Officials noted that the rise in average packages was driven by strong demand for artificial intelligence and machine learning roles. Students from the computer science and electronics branches saw the most aggressive bidding.
Student and faculty response
UVCE's placement officer attributed the success to the college's updated curriculum and industry partnerships. “We revamped our courses to align with current industry needs. The students also underwent rigorous training in soft skills and coding,” the officer said.
Students expressed relief and optimism. Many credited the college's dedicated placement cell for mock interviews and resume-building workshops. “The process was stressful, but the support from faculty made a big difference,” said a final-year computer science student.
Broader context
UVCE's record placement comes amid a competitive job market for engineering graduates in India. While the overall placement scenario across institutions has been uneven, top-tier colleges continue to attract recruiters.
Industry experts point out that Bengaluru's status as a tech hub works in UVCE's favour. The college's proximity to numerous corporate headquarters allows for frequent industry-academia interactions.
The placement season for the 2026 batch concluded earlier this month. The college plans to release a detailed report on sector-wise and gender-wise placement data in the coming weeks.
