Chennai police have arrested three individuals, including two employees of the Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation (TNCSC), for their alleged involvement in smuggling Public Distribution System (PDS) rice. The arrests were made in the Perambur area following a tip-off.

The accused have been identified as TNCSC staff members and a private agent. Officials said the group was illegally diverting rice meant for ration card holders and selling it in the open market for profit.

Acting on specific intelligence, a police team raided a location in Perambur late on Thursday night. During the operation, they seized a significant quantity of PDS rice that was being loaded onto vehicles for transport.
