BRS Alleges Delay in TIMS Alwal Construction, Congress Says Project Near Finish

The BRS has accused the Congress-led state government of dragging its feet on the construction of the Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (TIMS) in Alwal. The party claims the delay is deliberate and is affecting healthcare access for thousands of residents in the northern parts of Hyderabad.

BRS Alleges Deliberate Hold-Up

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, BRS leaders said the project has been moving at a snail's pace. They alleged that the Congress government is stalling the work for political reasons.

"This hospital was supposed to be a flagship project. Instead, the government is sitting on it. The people of Alwal and surrounding areas have been waiting for a major healthcare facility for years," a BRS representative said. The party demanded that the construction be expedited immediately.

Congress Government Fires Back

The Congress party, which heads the state government, rejected the allegations. Officials from the medical and health department said the project is nearing completion.

"The construction of TIMS Alwal is approximately 85% complete. There is no delay. We are on track to finish it within the stipulated timeline," a senior official said. The government added that the remaining work involves finishing touches and installation of medical equipment.

Project Background and Current Status

TIMS Alwal is a super-specialty hospital being built to serve a densely populated area. The project was originally conceived under the previous BRS government, but work has continued under the current administration.

Recent inspections show that the main building structure is complete. Interior work, including electrical and plumbing, is in the final stages. Hospital officials expect to begin trials soon.

Officials have not yet confirmed a firm date for the hospital's opening. But sources within the health department indicate it could be operational within the next few months.

The delay allegations come amid a broader political battle over healthcare infrastructure in Telangana. Both parties have traded charges over the pace of development in the state.

BRS has repeatedly targeted the Congress government over health projects. The ruling party, in turn, has highlighted its own achievements, including the completion of other hospitals and primary health centres.
