Mahindra & Mahindra has reported total auto sales of 103,860 units for July 2026, with its SUV lineup crossing the 60,000-unit mark in dispatches. The Scorpio nameplate, which includes the Scorpio-N and classic Scorpio, led the charge, followed by the Thar, XUV3XO, Bolero, XUV7XO, and XEV 9S.
SUV dispatches grew 20% year-on-year, reflecting sustained demand for the company's utility vehicles across urban and semi-urban markets. The performance comes amid a competitive festive-season build-up, with automakers ramping up supplies to dealerships.
While Mahindra does not disclose individual model sales in its monthly statement, industry data from Autopunditz indicates the Scorpio family remains the volume driver. The Thar continues to attract strong bookings, especially in the compact off-roader segment, while the XUV3XO has become a key player in the sub-4 metre SUV space.
The Bolero, a staple in rural and semi-urban markets, sustained its steady run. The XUV7XO, positioned above the XUV3XO, and the electric XEV 9S also contributed to the overall SUV tally, though exact numbers have not been disclosed.
Mahindra's tractor division reported sales of 34,420 units in July 2026, a 28% increase compared to the same month last year. The company attributed the growth to a better-than-expected monsoon and improving rural sentiment, which typically drives farm equipment purchases.
Industry-wide, tractor sales for July rose 28% to 117,349 units, according to NewsBytes, indicating a broad-based recovery in the farm sector. The pick-up in rural demand comes after two years of uneven rainfall and subdued agricultural incomes.
Mahindra's total auto sales of 103,860 units include domestic passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, and exports. The company has not yet released a detailed split for July, but the SUV segment's 20% growth points to robust domestic demand.
Tractor exports, however, have not been separately disclosed in the initial announcement. Analysts expect the company to provide a fuller picture in its quarterly earnings report, due later this month.
The July numbers reinforce Mahindra's position as India's largest SUV maker by volume, ahead of competitors like Tata Motors and Hyundai. The company has been expanding its production capacity for the Scorpio and Thar, and the XEV 9S is part of its broader electric vehicle push.
With the festive season beginning in August, Mahindra is likely to maintain elevated dispatches. However, supply chain constraints and semiconductor availability remain watchpoints, though the company has not flagged any major issues in its latest statement.
Looking ahead, all eyes will be on how Mahindra manages the transition to stricter emission norms and its EV roadmap. The company's ability to sustain double-digit SUV growth will depend on new model launches and its response to evolving customer preferences in the compact and electric segments.
